If you've ever tried to sort out networking or telecom standards you'll know it is not a trivial undertaking for the novice. I think one Google Groups user put it best in a 2003 posting which states ...
"I've spent the last few days on google groups on what I thought was going to be a simple operation, to find the standard for POTS wiring using RJ45 plugs and jacks. If I would ever have to do this again, I think I'd rather stick a needle in my eye. Or maybe a pitchfork. So much time to gather so little information, with lots of misinformation to filter out through cross referencing."
-- USOC/568A/568B/258A for POTS wiring
I collected and organized the information in this section while re-wiring my home a few years back. I'm sharing it here with the hope it will spare others some time and frustration, or perhaps even some self-induced eye injuries. ;-)
